Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas orderly and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck comes in several models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one type of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
