A type of vehicle that is meant to transport containerized cargo in small and mediumsized ports and terminals is known as a reach stacker. Reach stackers are perfect for quickly shuttling containers short distances and stacking them in rows.

Because of their flexibility, reach stackers are a common choice for handling intermodal cargo containers. They are capable of stacking higher than forklift trucks. With a reach stacker capable of second row access, container blocks can be kept four-deep.

A different version of the stacker is made to handle empty containers only.
