Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for jobs that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. For example, employees could perform exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are better suited to specific jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. As these types of units must be directly positioned beneath the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer bigger platforms that enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these models, as they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle often utilized to lift workers for different jobs done at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand along with a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Cherry pickers can lift employees up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at various tasks and are great for certain applications and finishing particular tasks.
