Ever since Doosan Infracore began producing diesel engines in the year 1958, the business has continued to build its R&D capacities to stay at the forefront of the business in Korea. In 1975, Doosan started mass producing diesel engines at its first large-scale plant. In a decade the company's production technology had progressed to the point that making its very own diesel engine model was possible. Doosan's leadership position in the business was secured. During 1995 Doosan produced its very first low-emission diesel engine, followed by commercial vehicle CNG engines after three years. Ever since the year 2000, the company has developed technology for Tier 3-compliant engines, low-pressure natural gas engines and sophisticated common-rail engines. To be able follow strict Euro emission control standards, the company developed a low-emission, heavy-duty diesel engine model during the year 2007.
Doosan Infracore has facilities worldwide to make 60 different kinds of engines, as well as parts and materials. Products consist of diesel engines and natural gas engines for forklifts, trucks, construction machines, buses, ships, generators and many more. Engines range from 70 to 1,500 horse power. Yearly output is currently 75,000 units.
The company is continually engaged in expanding R&D capabilities to expand to more markets and increase output. Demand for more stringent regulations governing engine emissions has led the company to make a compressed natural gas engine factory in the US during 2008, and a joint venture factory in Xuzhou, China. The factory within China will have the capacity to make 50,000 diesel engines on an annual basis, with production scheduled to begin in 2011.
