Forklifts are vehicles usually found in factories, warehouses and various work sites where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift which hydraulically lifts and lowers the load. The "cat" is the area that is protected where the driver of the forklift sits.
Forklifts can carry loads that weigh between one to five tons. Some kinds can be utilized to lift shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires must be maintained and checked regularly. The types of tires on various forklifts differ based on factors such as ground surfaces, frequency of use and load weights. Each and every operator of a forklift must have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
You must regularly inspect the tires. Watch for signs of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it should be replaced.
When you purchase tires, be sure you purchase the correct type - solid, pneumatic or polyurethane.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and lift the forklift high enough that you could easily change the tires.
You could use the tire press to pull the tire from the rim and remove the damaged tire. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you have only one jack, lower the forklift, and after that reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company can offer on-site tire repair. If the tire is extremely big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the damaged tire will have to be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
