Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into production with man-lifts, articulated booms, light towers telehandlers and stick booms.
Because of the economic recession during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Due to the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the initial few years following the sale. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is devoted to continually improving quality and efficiency and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machinery should be driven significant distances, such as within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach overall. These machinery are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These equipment provide the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
