Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They can run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for many uses. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders which can be changed out when the machine has to be refueled.
So as to avoid possible serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be sure to wear the appropriate safety equipment such as goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it would turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened just by utilizing the hand.
