Narrow Aisle Forklifts
There are specially designed forklifts that operate in narrow warehouse aisles. These machines are normally known as vary narrow aisle or narrow aisle lift trucks. They could negotiate smaller aisles easily and allow you to enjoy some advantages. For example, the increased amount of space to keep things can greatly increase a company's overall available stock.
The narrow aisle forklift is made to maneuver quite easily, since they are designed particularly to work in confined spaces. Their different design has eliminated many of the things which are squished up into the design of the conventional lift truck's main body.
These lift trucks are very slow in comparison to standard forklifts which is among their key disadvantages. If you have to transport things across large areas, the narrow aisle forklift is not the best. When it comes to speed they will not be a reliable alternative. If you also have a regular forklift, this will not be an issue. You could simply use the narrow aisle lift truck to transport the load to a central location and after that hand it off to a regular lift truck that could travel the bulk of the distance in a timely and efficient method. Frequently, narrow aisle forklifts cannot handle as much lifting weight; hence, outside of smaller loads they will not be really helpful.
Electric Lift Trucks
Traditional gas forklifts are not a suitable choice for indoor operations like warehouses or stores. They will not be as safe because of their fumes, or as cost-efficient or helpful compared to an electric powered unit. Electric lift trucks are usually engineered to work and look a lot like gas ones, but they utilize electric batteries that have to be recharged, rather than gasoline fuel.
Electric lift trucks are common for a range of reasons. For starters, they would save you a lot of money on fuel expenses. At first, electric units may cost more but over time, they make up for this in the long run. For instance, when gas prices increase, you would save lots of cash as you would not be affected. Electric units tend to last quite a bit longer as opposed to gas powered units also. This is partly because of the fact they are mostly used inside and thus don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered units. Electric units are healthier to utilize in places which are badly ventilated like indoor operations and warehouses as they don't emit noxious fumes. It can be extremely dangerous to utilize diesel or gas lift trucks indoors.
The electric forklift does have some disadvantages like the fact that they could really just work for approximately 8 hours. Then the machinery would need to be charged for 8 hours and rested for another 8 hours. Lots of companies get around this condition by purchasing a spare battery so they can have less downtime and continually cycle them. There are fast charge batteries available on the market which are also reducing the charging time.
