Narrow aisle forklifts
Usually used in warehouse applications is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These kinds of forklifts are important equipments in the business since their small size and extreme maneuverability allow warehouses to maximize storing space. They can easily go around aisles as narrow as 1.8 meters wide, whereas standard lift trucks need 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
The two kinds are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, while the second could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The narrow aisle forklift design consists of forks positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not have to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for limited spaces.
To be able to make sure that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, several very narrow aisle forklifts consist of optical or wire systems. That way, the operator could focus more on the placement and the picking of loads.
The cushion tires that come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on paved, smooth surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors suited for applications in indoor places. Propane-powered models are available as well.
